CNN —For Zendaya’s highly anticipated return to the Met Gala, she and longtime stylist Law Roach gave us more than we could have asked for. Returning to the Met Gala after five years of absence — and this time as an event co-chair — the “Challengers” star stepped out in custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano, referencing a haute couture look he created at Christian Dior in 1999. Zendaya's first gown at the 2024 Met Gala was this elaborate custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano piece. The Simplify Tail Risk ETF , which trades under the cheeky ticker "CYA," is headed for liquidation later this month after a brutal money-losing stretch. CYA 1Y mountain Simplify's Tail Risk ETF has been beaten down by the market rally. "Tail protection, which was heavily desired in 2020, has no bids right now. And that way if you're losing money on it, and it's a tail risk ETF where you're buying a put [option], then you understand why that's happening," Armour said. In January, the law firm Crowell & Moring traded its New York offices in an early 1980s building in Midtown Manhattan for a newly built space on the West Side, with sweeping views of the Hudson River and New York Harbor. The law firm’s previous office layout was “essentially wasted space,” said Philip T. Inglima, the firm’s chairman. Crowell & Moring makes better use of the square footage in its new location, which includes features like sit-to-stand desks, video technology for hybrid meetings and double-pane glass for soundproofing, Mr. Inglima said. Larger law firms nationwide have been shedding space even as they have added lawyers. “We don’t have everybody in the office all the time, and that’s why we don’t necessarily need that larger footprint,” said Sharis A. Pozen, the law firm Clifford Chance’s regional managing partner, for the Americas.

A California prison inmate locked up on a gang-related murder conviction led a scheme that defrauded the U.S. government out of more than $550 million in Covid-era federal tax credits, prosecutors said. Five other people were charged with Thomas in the alleged drug trafficking scheme. The employee retention credits became a refundable federal tax credit for employers during the Covid-19 pandemic to encourage businesses to retain workers. "But that apparently was not enough: he also conspired to pursue over half a billion dollars in federal tax credits that were meant to help struggling businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic," Talbert said. DEA agents intercepted those calls and also intercepted text messages showing Thomas communicating about the tax fraud scheme, prosecutors said.

About 69% of Gen-Z respondents to a survey conducted by email management technology provider Edison Mail last year said they preferred to communicate through messaging apps. Photo: Philip Toscano/Zuma PressWall Street firms are facing a problem that is growing more difficult by the day: how to capture staff communications as required by regulators while the ways their employees talk to each other keep changing. On one hand, the Securities and Exchange Commission has been cracking down on so-called off-channel communications, where employees use personal devices and banned apps to send business-related messages that rules say must be recorded. On the other hand, the ways people communicate have changed since the regulations were first enacted, with almost everyone texting about almost everything these days.

Oct 30 (Reuters) - Information and analytics firm Ascential (ASCL.L) said on Monday it would sell its digital commerce and consumer research units for a combined enterprise value of 1.4 billion pounds ($1.70 billion) as the UK-based company focuses on its events business. London-listed Ascential said it intended to distribute about 850 million pounds to shareholders following the completion of the transactions. The digital commerce business would be sold to U.S.-listed Omnicom Group (OMC.N) for a total enterprise value of $900 million, it said. Ascential said its CEO Duncan Painter would join Omnicom to take on a new role as chief of Flywheel Digital, a newly formed part of the U.S.-based company which will operate the digital commerce business. The WGSN divestment is part of a break-up plan announced in January which originally included separation and a U.S. listing of its digital commerce assets.

Win Mcnamee | ReutersForecasters have been really wrong on the economy recently, but it's nothing new: They've always been wrong. — that the economic forecasts of the major Wall Street banks had been "100 percent dead wrong" in the last 18 months. It's true that Covid and the Russian invasion of Ukraine threw off forecasts, but that's beside the point: Wrong forecasts are the norm, not the exception. The Federal Reserve's own research staff studied the Federal Reserve's economic forecasts from 1997 to 2008 and found that the Fed's predictions for economic activity one year out were no better than average benchmark predictions. The Times story notes other factors that threw off recent economic forecasts: the Russian invasion of Ukraine: being too pessimistic on growth prospects, lack of good data on real-time consumer savings.

Ashes to Ashes, Disney to Dust

With streaming disrupting the economics of the TV and film industries, it doesn’t help to alienate your audience with political posturing like Disney has with its refashioning of classic fairy tales including the upcoming 'Snow White.' Images: Disney/Shutterstock/Bloomberg News/Getty Images for CAA Composite: Mark KellyAttendance is declining at the four Disney World theme parks, the Journal recently reported. Average July Fourth wait times at Magic Kingdom were 20 minutes shorter than in 2019. That surprised me as much as it must have disturbed the suits at headquarters. And since I’m not a Disney shareholder, I confess that I took a certain morbid satisfaction in the news.

This could disrupt the way software is created, distributed, and used, VCs and startup founders say. This outcome would flip the traditional software industry on its head, calling into question the value of SaaS companies in a world where everyday people can build software themselves. "This is the final chapter of software eating the world, where a bunch of people can create enterprise software within the enterprise." A 'healthy pressure' for traditional SaaS providersTo be sure, the death of the traditional software company still seems a long way off. However, even skeptics admit that the threat of generative AI to traditional SaaS will push established software companies to prove their worth.
Elon Musk's new AI researcher Igor Babuschkin was arrested in March in a domestic violence case. Musk reportedly hired Babuschkin as part of a push to develop a competitor to OpenAI's ChatGPT. The case involved "a minor injury," but did not otherwise pose a threat to public safety, Philip told Insider. Babuschkin was arrested at 588 Webster Street, according to a police report log posted last month on the Palo Alto Police Department's website. Musk has also brought on resources including roughly 10,000 graphics processing units to execute his AI plans, Insider previously reported.
